BaaCon is a grassroots Kiwi hacker con fueled by crazy ideas, and excellent company. Whether you break things for a living, support people who do, or are just security-curious and keen to learn, you’re welcome here. Rock up in jorts and jandals, pitch a tent, crack a cold one (or a cold zero), and spin some yarns alongside good sorts from across the Kiwi infosec community.
This is a come-as-you-are kind of con: red team, blue team, GRC, tinkerers and builders, lurkers, and mates-of-mates all belong. No gatekeeping, no ego, no pressure to be "technical enough." If you like security stories, learning new things, or just hanging out with interesting humans under the stars, you’ll fit right in.
There are talks (probably), sheep (definitely), and a strict “no corporate nonsense” policy. Come for the exploits, stay for the vibes, leave with new friends, fresh perspectives, and at least one story you probably shouldn’t tell at work.
The organisers and crew known as the shearing gang are volunteers from across the community. All pitching in to make a weekend that’s welcoming, weird, and worth your time. We’re not here to sell anything, recruit you, or build a brand. We just want to make a space where people can learn, connect, and have a bloody good time. If you see us around, say hi. We'll probably be running around like headless chooks on caffeine.
Welcome from the Shearing Gang! (Elf, Jack, Dom, Dave, Ethan, and Corbyn)
